Speedier Fights!


One of the most consistent pieces of feedback I have received was that the fights would take too long to animate once you learned the basics.

The reason I was hesitant to speed them up in the first place is that many of the levels have surprise moments or "gotchas" where the battle might go slightly different than you expect unless you're paying complete attention and have a very good understanding of the mechanics. If the player cannot witness and read what is happening in real time, these moments could feel confusing and unfair, or worse, like a bug caused you to lose. 

That said, I agree that the fights could get very tedious, especially when re-playing a level that you made a mistake on. So, to address this feedback in a way that will still allow new players to grow accustomed to combat, I have added a checkbox to speed up battle animations. You can check the box on any turn where you are confident that you know what will happen, and it will play out much, much faster.

There is one caveat, however! Because the biggest of these "gotcha" moments are when new enemies appear and do something unexpected, especially for the first time, I automatically uncheck the box and return the fight to normal speed whenever a new enemy appears. You can simply re-check the box if you would like, or let it play out at normal speed to see what the enemy will do.
